Mages are almost unknown to the dwarves, but those few who do show some aptitude for the arts are almost certain to specialize in the enchantment of arms and armor. The Dwarven Enchanter is short and stocky with a wild beard that seems to dance with a life of its own. He is obviously unhappy at being disturbed and rapidly begins to turn his creations upon you.

Attacks and abilities

The Dwarven Enchanter sometimes attacks you with a Runed Staff, but his specialty is enchanting... animating numerous objects around the arena to attack you on his behalf. All of his toys are immune to non-magical weapons and each has a different characteristic:

  • Animated Armors have a crushing attack and are the weakest of his selection; try to leave 3 of these in his arena when attacking him, as it takes some strain off your Clerics.
  • Dancing Swords have quite a high-damage attack that is hard to avoid.
  • Ensorcelled Bows attack multiple targets at once, usually 4 targets for 30 damage each, and can get a little annoying.
  • Flying Hammers have a blunt attack that can hurt a lot, but can be absorbed.
  • Possessed Daggers are arguably the most dangerous animation, for as well as having a high-damage attack, they give victims a 30-point poison, so take care.

Favourite quotes

  • "I wonder how long you can last... the young have no stamina it seems."
  • "See if you can ignore my playthings! Hah!"
  • "Would you rather be skewered or crushed? Be honest. It's for posterity."
  • "All my creations! Gone! All gone!"

Notes

  • His square is not log to local, so you have to fight him to the death.
  • You have to kill all of the animations as well as the Dwarven Enchanter himself to escape.
